TripAdvisor Reviews

I’ve been cat and heli skiing for a decade or so and can authoritatively say that Mustang is at the top of its game. Skiing is everything a enthusiastic powder skier wants. Terrain is outstanding. Staff on the mountain and in the lodge are superb: efficient, friendly and, just a little important on the mountain, oozing competence. More

The Best of Cat skiing

Mustang Powder was voted the best of cat skiing in 2011! The criteria were:

  • Vertical per day and per run
  • Number of runs per day
  • Average snowfall
  • Terrain acreage

Small Groups, Steep Chutes

The Small Groups, Steep Chutes program is no longer brand new but a lot of people are still not familiar with it. Check out the Small Groups, Steep Chutes section of our website for more details. If you are a strong skier/boarder who enjoys steep challenging terrain and isn’t afraid of a little ski touring, then this snowcat is definitely where you want to be.

Hot tub location

The hot tub is now on on the roof! With a better view and easy access from the guest bedroom wing. Due to popular demand we have also added jets. Guests no longer have to walk outside in the snow – they merely go out on the top deck and climb in.

New Sauna

Due to popular demand we have also built a sauna. The sauna is located on the ground floor immediately outside the guest bedroom wing. It will comfortably sit about 6 guests.

Private Cats

About seventeen years ago some heli-skiing companies began using smaller helicopters to cater to small private groups, thus revolutionising the industry. Mustang Powder is now utilising this concept in catskiing. It started eight years ago with the introduction of our Small Groups, Steep Chutes program, and now continues with the introduction of our new Private Group program. Yes, it costs more. But the benefits will make the upgrade worthwhile.

Helicopter access from Jan. 7 onward

Prior to this date we will do the normal bus/cat routine to access Mustang lodge from our Skyline Truck stop meeting place. From January 7 onward guests will arrive about 1 hour before their flight time, and then take an 8 minute helicopter flight to the lodge. This costs an additional $200 for the return flight. Guests will get details of the helicopter transfer program in their information packages sent out each Fall.
