Trip Schedule

Skiing PowderMustang Powder Lodge is north of the Trans Canada Highway, between Sicamous and Revelstoke. We run three and four day trips. We also have a few two day trips running prior to Christmas. For all trips you will arrive the evening prior to the first day of your ski holiday.

Access to the lodge

If you trip starts before January 7, you will go to the lodge via company bus and snowcat. Please read the following information:

We meet our guests at our meeting spot off of Avoca Rd – on the day prior to your first day of skiing. The yellow school bus will be parked conspicuously in the parking lot. Drive directly up to the bus and load all of your gear/luggage into the back of it. Then the bus driver will show you where to park your vehicle. We ask guests to please refrain from excessive drinking prior to your arrival at the ski lodge. The bus leaves the truck stop at 4:00 PM pacific time.

Access to Mustang Lodge

Guest cars will be left in our parking area off of Avoca Rd for the duration of their ski holiday. After a quick briefing on transportation arrangements, you will board our bus for the 21 km trip to our trail head. At the trail head, you will transfer your luggage to a snowcat for the one hour trip to the Mustang Lodge. You will probably want boots, gloves, a flashlight and a jacket available, as this is a snowy location. Upon arrival at the lodge we will get you settled into your rooms and then serve dinner.

If your trip starts on January 7 or later

From January 7 to the end of the ski season guests will access the lodge via helicopter (unless stormy weather makes flying too difficult and then we will go to Plan B – the bus and cat, as described above). You will receive an information package in the Fall and it will tell you specifically what time to arrive at the truck stop. You will have approx. 1 hour to have your luggage weighed (35 lbs. max),  view a helicopter safety briefing, and get ready to fly.   The flight to the lodge is fast – about 8 minutes. There will be two helicopters doing the transfer and 3 persons, and their luggage will go on each flight. Guests should fly in warm clothing and winter snow boots.

Making lunchBreakfast

You will be woken up at 7:00 am to coffee in bed followed by a full breakfast in the dining room. The lunch buffet is set out early and you can make your lunch either before or after eating breakfast.

Safety Briefing and Snowcat Orientation

Prior to skiing on your first day all guests are required to sign a Waiver, Release from Liability and Assumption of Risks. The guides will then give you a safety briefing and training session with avalanche transceivers followed by an avalanche transceiver search practice. We will also discuss safety in and around the snowcats.

Let’s Go Skiing

On the first morning, we will depart from the lodge at approximately 10:00 AM; on subsequent days the cats will leave the lodge at 8:30-8:45 AM. Lunch is eaten in the snow cat between runs. We return from skiing between 4:00 and 5:00 pm. We often ski right back to the lodge on our last run of the day.

Nick in snowcat

At Mustang Lodge we operate on ‘Mountain time’ in order to get people out of bed earlier and maximise daylight hours. Our philosophy is to give you as much skiing as possible. Less ambitious skiers can sit out some runs if feeling tired. During the ski day you must give your full attention to your guide’s instructions at all times. Skiing within parameters set by your guide is the best way to prevent injury or incident and ski the best runs possible.

Après Ski

Hot tubAfter skiing appetizers are served in the lounge. You can then have a soak in our large outdoor hot tub on the roof, get sweaty in our sauna, enjoy a massage, or play a game of billiards before dinner. Our bar has a superb selection of the finest British Columbia wines, Mt. Begbie beer (brewed in Revelstoke), and a full selection of fine liquors. Dinner is a four course gourmet meal prepared by out excellent chefs.

Last Day of Skiing

We will have you pack your gear first thing in the morning so that we can ski as late as possible. After skiing we will return you to your car at the Skyline Truck stop between 5:30 and 6:00 PM Pacific Time. If you you are leaving by helicopter you will be back at the lodge between 3 and 4:30 PM.
