Mustang Powder Lodge is north of the Trans Canada Highway, between Sicamous and Revelstoke. We run three, four and five day trips. We also have a few two day trips running prior to Christmas. For all trips you will arrive the evening prior to the first day of your ski holiday.
We meet our guests at the Skyline Esso Truck Stop north of Malakwa between 3:00-3:30 pm Pacific Time - on the day prior to your first day of skiing. The yellow school bus will be parked conspicuously in the parking lot. Drive directly up to the bus and load all of your gear/luggage into the back of it. Then the bus driver will show you where to park your vehicle. While you are waiting for all of the other guests to arrive you should go to the upstairs lounge at the truck stop, play billiards and have a beverage or coffee. We ask guests to please refrain from excessive drinking prior to your arrival at the ski lodge. If you are going to be late, please call the Skyline directly at 250-836-4949. (The bus leaves the truck stop at 4:00 PM pacific time.)
Guest cars will be left at the Skyline for the duration of their ski holiday. After a quick briefing on transportation arrangements, you will board our bus for the 21 km trip to our trailhead. At the trailhead, you will transfer your luggage to a snowcat for the one hour trip to the Mustang Lodge. You will probably want boots, gloves, a flashlight and a jacket available, as this is a snowy location. Upon arrival at the lodge we will get you settled into your rooms and then serve dinner.
You will be woken up at 7:00 am to coffee in bed followed by a full breakfast in the dining room. The lunch buffet is set out early and you can make their lunches either before or after eating breakfast.
Prior to skiing on your first day all guests are required to sign a Waiver, Release from Liability and Assumption of Risks. The guides will then give you a safety briefing and training session with avalanche beacons followed by an avalanche transceiver search practice. We will also discuss safety in and around the snowcats.
On the first morning, we will depart from the lodge at approx. 10:00 AM; on subsequent days the cats will leave the lodge at 8:30-8:45 AM. Lunch is eaten in the snow cat between runs. We return from skiing between 4:00 and 5:00 pm. We often ski right back to the lodge as our last run of the day. At Mustang Lodge we operate on 'Mountain time' in order to get people out of bed earlier and lengthen the ski day. Our philosophy is to give you as much skiing in the day as is possible. The less ambitious skiers can sit out some runs if they are feeling tired. During the ski day you must give your full attention to your guide's instructions at all times. Skiing within the parameters set by your guide is the best way to prevent injury or incident and to get the best possible snow.
After skiing appetizers are served in the lounge. You can then have a soak in our large outdoor hot tub, enjoy a massage or play a game of billiards before dinner. Our bar has a superb selection of the finest British Columbia wines, Mt. Begbie beer (brewed in Revelstoke) as well as a full selection of fine liquors. Dinner is a four course gourmet meal prepared by out excellent chefs.
We will have you pack your gear first thing in the morning so that we can ski as late as possible. After skiing we will return you to your car at the Skyline Truck stop between 5:30 and 6:00 PM Pacific Time.
