Mustang Powder is located near Revelstoke, BC in the Northern Monashee mountains - which are known as one of the best places in the world for consistently great powder snow. It is an interior range so we get light, dry powder. Due to the weather patterns of the Pacific storms the Monashee Mountains receive much bigger dumps of snow than the ranges to the East, such as the Selkirks, Purcells or the Rockies. Mt. Copeland, which is adjacent to the Mustang Lodge, holds the Canadian record for the most snowfall in one season at 24.5 m. That’s over 80 ft of snow in one season - think of all the great face shots from that!
Mustang Powder excels in the cat skiing industry for many reasons. We are located northwest of Revelstoke in the Northern Monashee mountains – which is arguably the best place in the world for powder snow, both quantity and quality. Even on the lean snow years we tend to thrive while other areas struggle. We have lots of alpine and glacier skiing, as well as the nicely spaced old-growth tree skiing for which the Monashees are famous. With over 250 km’s of snowcat roads and 30,000 acres to play with, it is unlikely that we will run out of untracked snow. We pride ourselves on providing guests with full 8 hour ski days, and often over 20,000 vertical feet of skiing per day. This year at Mustang powder, along with our usual big vertical program, we will be offering a new extremely big vertical program. Keen and fit skiers no longer have to go heli-skiing in order to get lots of vertical in the powder. At Mustang Powder we’re as passionate about powder skiing as you are!
A new addition for the 2010-2011 season is a 3rd snowcat with only 6 guests - doing steep, challenging terrain. This third group won't track out the normal ski runs and lessen the quality for the regular groups since they will primarily be skiing narrow, steep and obscure lines which aren't easy for our regular groups to access.
